Outfit post: Putting the S.W.A.P. into action, Part 2

By IN Personal Style

Outfit photo: Neon green Worthington shirt, LOFT culottes, Kate Spade sandals and tote

Last week, I showed you how I tried to emulate the first of the four outfits Erin styled for me as part of the style blogger S.W.A.P. This week, it’s time for look #2.

I’ll tell you, I never in a million years would’ve picked out a goldenrod-colored pussy bow blouse for myself, but in the spirit of the S.W.A.P., I was willing to give it a go. (And that was the point anyway, wasn’t it?)

It seems the universe didn’t want to oblige, though; I looked all over with no luck. In fact, that’s how I found myself shopping at JCPenney, a store I rarely visit. I thought surely their Worthington career women’s section would have similar blouses, no? No.

I do have a pair of denim trouser jeans in my closet, but it’s been so ungodly hot here in DC that I opted instead for these wide-legged denim culottes from LOFT. The proportions are similar if the exact silhouette is not.

My summer version of the orange-with-gold-detail flats is my orange-with-gold-detail Illia sandals that you’ve seen before.

I don’t have a tan leather handbag, but I thought the tan canvas tote from Kate Spade (also seen in S.W.A.P. outfit #1) might work in the same way; it also has a natural feel.

Now I don’t normally wear gold jewelry, but Erin had proposed gold bangles. That sent me digging through the bottom drawer of my armoire, where I’ve stashed jewelry from days gone by, to retrieve these bracelets and necklaces.

The thickest gold bracelet is a Speidel Idents (remember those?) I got as a high school graduation gift. The necklaces are both Amway Artistry, gifts from my mom when she was an Amway distributor (was everyone’s mom an Anway distributor back in the ‘70s?).

  • What do you think?
  • Did I get close to the mark on Erin’s outfit?
  • Do I look OK in neon green, or is it scaring you a little bit? ;)
