Outfit post: Casual wear for a cooler day [Level 2]

Working Mom Outfit Level 2/Weekend Chic: Lands End Canvas turtleneck, LOFT sleeveless sweater, J Brand cords, Ecco desert boots

Spring is here, but that doesn’t mean it’s instantly balmy yet. Here in the DC area, the temperatures are climbing upward, but we’re still having clear and cooler days.

This was a Weekend Chic outfit I wore when visiting family. I wanted to be comfortable for playing with the kids, warm enough for the chilly day and suitable for having my photo taken because there are always candid snapshots at family gatherings, aren’t there?

The comfortable part was the Lands End Canvas mock turtleneck paired with my favorite J Brand cords (love that extra bit of stretch they have).

The “chilly day” part was the extra layer of a sleeveless sweater over the top; it added a bit of color to the neutrals, too.

Adding a scarf at the neck gives a bit of a chic twist (after all, it works for the French, n’est-ce pas?.

I like to think of my Ecco desert boots as chic and comfortable. And the Ray-Bans were mostly functional due to the bright, sunny day–but a classic aviator frame adds a final bit of style factor, too. I always feel cooler when wearing them, anyway!

Turtleneck: Lands End Canvas (on sale, $11).
Sweater: LOFT (similar, $49, Yoox.com).
Corduroy pants: J. Brand (similar, 612 Corduroy Pencil Leg, $172).
