Outfit post: Neon and diamonds [Level 4]

Working mom Client Meeting outfit: LOFT top and tee, neon belt and patterned tights

Remember when I said last week that I hadn’t abandoned my beloved black? Well, voila.

Sometimes a girl just wants to feel a little … Parisian, and nothing suits like shades of black.

Because the top and skirt are relatively simple, I wanted to add a little visual interest to the overall outfit.

Step one: neon belt. An accessory this small is the only way I can pull off such a trendy bright, but I love the way it contrasts with the black, and yellow is always a classic companion to the darker hue.

Step two: patterned hose. I’m less sure about how well these worked. You can’t tell from this photo, but the skirt is actually a small black-and-white windowpane check pattern. I was trying to play off the larger pattern against the smaller, but I wonder if it isn’t too overwhelming together?

With so many clean lines in the overall silhouette, I opted for my super pointy toed kitten heels. I know round and square toes go in and out of style as well, but I can never resist an elongated toe line.

Top: LOFT. (similar, $50, Calvin Klein).
Skirt: LOFT (similar, $90, Bluefly).
Belt: Target (similar, $24, Urban Outfitters)
Hosiery: Nordstrom (similar, $11, ASOS)
Shoes: Nine West (similar, $90, Zappos)
Working Mom Outfit Level: 4/Client Meeting

Thanks! Now I just have to remember it so I can wear it again. If I was smart (or less lazy), I’d print my own outfit photos out and make a lookbook.
