Of all the sample sale (aka private sale or flash sale) sites out there, my favorite was the now-shuttered Swirl from Daily Candy. Instead of the usual suspects of frequently-still-expensive high-end names, their sales often featured items from up-and-coming designers. It was a great way to discover new labels and add less mainstream pieces to my wardrobe.
So I’ve been glad to discover that newly launched Belle & Clive from Bluefly sometimes has smaller-label sales tucked into its offerings of Prada and the like.
This Bailey44 twisted-top tee came from my first Belle & Clive order. I liked the little, well, twist on a standard long-sleeve knit top. Combined with the red color, it feels super sassy.
I thought an edgier top called for a simpler bottom, so I went with this taupe A-line skirt from Benetton. (It’s polyester, would you believe.)
And that gave me an excuse to wear my new taupe peep-toe platforms. (Speaking of sassy.)
Top: Bailey44 “Three Hour Tour” jersey tee. ($65, 6pm.com).
Skirt: Bennetton (similar, $42, The Limited).
Belt: Target (similar, $23, Zappos)
Shoes: Nine West (similar, $50, JCPenney)
Working Mom Outfit Level: 4/Client Meeting
