Even in the thick of summer, the weather can sometimes vary–especially if you live in cooler climes. (Lucky you.)
You may also need to plan for a range of temps if you’re attending an outside event that starts in the afternoon and carries into the evening.
What to do? The answer for me is always layers.
So that’s why I’m standing here in shorts and a cardigan. I was on my way to a backyard party that was warm enough for bare legs, but was going to get cooler later on.
I wanted to look a little dressier, so I opted for pin-striped bermuda shorts with a (just visible) periwinkle T-shirt. For a little more visual interest, I tried the polka-dotted cardigan.
I’m not sure how well it worked overall. I think the different patterns actually look OK together, but something about the full ensemble seems sort of … bulky, like I have no waist.
What do you think? Does this outfit work? How would you change it? And how do you dress for summer temperatures that range from higher to lower?
