Working Mom Weekend Chic Outfit: When is a skirt not a skirt?

Working Mom Weekend Chic Outfit: Aryn K top, DVF skort, Nine West cage sandals

Remember skorts? Briefly popular in the ’90s, they were shorts with a skirt-like overlay. Skirt in the front, shorts in the back.

I wasn’t much of a fan then, so I surely never would have imagined wearing them myself.

Working Mom Weekend Chic: Wrap short detailThen I saw this cute little item on the Diane Von Furstenberg sample sale website (which is closed at the moment). And shut my mouth, here I am in a skort. Or, according to DVF, “folded wrap shorts.” What can I say? Adorable–and a sweet deal–cannot be denied.

The top is a fun little find from Belle & Clive, which has quickly become my new favorite flash sale site. I like the way the sleeves, as well as the seams of the garment, are asymmetrical. It makes an ordinary striped knit top into something more interesting. (And the side shirring is nicely forgiving of the tummy area.)

The cage sandals seemed to work really well with the combination of black and color, so I decided to wear them (again).

I actually wore this outfit to the mall to look for tops with the same shade of melon as the skort (skorts?) so I could have some options. I tell ya, I felt very sassy in Nordstrom that day.
